Nigel Hughes, PhD
Prior to joining Kellogg, Dr. Hughes was Chief Research and Development Officer for Racine, Wisc. – based SC Johnson & Son since 2014. Prior to SC Johnson & Son, Dr. Hughes spent 10 years with Danone. He served as Vice President and head of Research and Development for the company’s global dairy business, including all aspects of product development, clinical studies, product safety, regulatory affairs and basic science.
He was promoted to CEO of Danone’s Nutricia business, which specializes in baby food and clinical nutrition, in 2009.
Dr. Hughes joined Unilever as a research scientist at its facility near Liverpool, U.K., in 1989. During the following 14 years, Dr. Hughes served in a series of key research, development and technology roles in the U.K., U.S., France and Italy, where he was head of technology for the company’s oral care business.
Dr. Hughes earned a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from the University of Durham, United Kingdom and a DPhil in chemistry from the University of Oxford.
