Steven Kattman, PhD
Steven Kattman, PhD, is a leading expert in the development and manufacture of cell-based products derived from Pluripotent Stem Cells. Dr. Kattman is currently Principal Scientist at the University of Washington Heart Regeneration Program in Seattle.
Formerly, Steve was Director of the Cardiac Cell Therapy Program for FujiFilm Cellular Dynamics International (FCDI).
During his post-doc work, Steve pioneered the use of Stem Cells to study cardiovascular development by applying them as a model system to discover the earliest progenitors of the heart and elucidating their molecular underpinnings. At FCDI, Steve and his team were the first to successfully develop and manufacture cell products derived from Human Pluripotent Stem cells by applying principles of developmental biology along with cell manufacturing. Products they developed include cardiomyocytes and skeletal muscle. At the University of Washington, Steve is leading translational teams to improve cell therapy engraftment, immune system evasion, and cell manufacturing.
